Moving Across the Nation with CHILD

Welcome new CHILD teachers from Florida, Indiana, and  Michigan!

Hagerstown Elementary
Hagerstown, Indiana

“There is nothing as powerful for student achievement as teachers who are fired up with a principal leading the way,” stated Dr. William Doering, Superintendent of Nettle Creek School Corporation in Hagerstown, Indiana.  Hagerstown teachers and Principal Lora Wilson thoroughly researched CHILD by conducting a book study this past spring of “Joyful Classrooms in an Age of Accountability: The Project CHILD story,” following their introduction to CHILD at the Indiana Conference on Learning.  Their visit to a CHILD National Demonstration Site, sealed their desire to start the transformation at their site.

Cleveland Elementary
Port Huron, MI

Cleveland Elementary is the first CHILD school in Michigan! They are a full CHILD school with 3 Primary clusters and 2 Intermediate clusters.  Principal Chris Collins first discovered CHILD while watching South Heights Elementary present at the 2011 Model Schools Conference.  All of the teachers are excited about the positive changes that are being made at Cleveland.  We look forward to an outstanding year with them!

The Red Shoe Charter School for Girls
The Obama Academy for Boys
Ft. Lauderdale, FL

We welcome Urban Academy to our CHILD family!  They are opening two new single-gender charter schools this year in South Florida.  The Red Shoe Charter School for Girls and The Obama Academy for Boys will each open with 1 Primary cluster and 1 Intermediate cluster and will eventually be K-8 schools.  Corey Alston and Jessica Rojas are the founders of the Urban Academy. They are excited about the opportunities CHILD will offer their students to learn in multiple learning modalities.

School Founder, Jessica Rojas, and CHILD consultant, Gale Fulford, discuss plans together at the CHILD Leadership Academy held in Orlando in June.
